New york times Fed Machine

Hellions worked with Midnight Commercial to concept, design and construct the Fed Machine, a Rube Goldberg machine for a video explaining how the Federal Reserve attempts to limit inflation by raising the interest rate, for the New York Times. The project involved designing mechanisms and interactions to match a vocal script for the video, sourcing materials and prototyping mechanisms, building the machine, and running and troubleshooting the machine during the video shoot. The whole project was completed over two weeks, with the machine built over three days.

Hellions was responsible for concepting and designing mechanisms, vetting mechanical designs, physical fabrication, managing a build crew, and completing repairs during the video shoot.
